The Mission
The future of the CFO role is expanding far beyond the traditional finance-based aspects. To succeed as a ‘Modern CFO’ it is critical to understand the broader range of skills you need to acquire.
The CFO Hero Project is purely focused on helping finance professionals with a strong career growth goal to become a Chief Financial Officer.
The modern CFO role is a truly rewarding position requiring intense focus, dedication, strategic thinking and a desire to be a driving force in your organisation being successful.
About Me
I have been a CFO for the past 12 years in a mid-sized organisation. My career in the broader Accounting & Finance industries covers over 30 years. I spent 12 years at JPMorgan, eventually become a Vice President and held roles both in Australia and then New York, USA.
A core part of my JPMorgan career included multiple large IT projects, risk management and product development.
I have formal qualifications as a Chartered Accountant in Australia, Grad Dip in Applied Finance & Investment (FINSIA), and as a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
In my current CFO role I have focused on developing key governance skills and working with a CEO and the Board.
I love every aspect of being a modern CFO; from building business proposals, working on strategy with the CEO, developing a risk framework, preparing five-year forecasts, benchmarking financial performance, assessing cyber security controls, CAPEX planning, and even the annual audit. Every aspect provides a new challenge, new skills and new opportunities to add value to your organisation.
